Approved Redevelopment

A lot has been happening since the Westerville City Council approved the redevelopment project on July 5, 2012. It takes a tremendous amount of effort behind the scenes, to get a complicated renovation project designed, engineered before there is much visible evidence of any planned changes to the center. Soil testing and environmental testing have been done to prepare for the demolition and new construction. Storm water calculations have been made by the engineers and then revised and approved by the city too.

Three different sets of architects and engineers have been working with the City of Westerville on the development of all the necessary drawings and specifications. The drawings have been submitted for the necessary permits that will be issued very soon. This whole process takes a long time as both the City and The Hadler Companies want to be sure everything will be done properly and as required by City Council.

The Hadler Companies also continue to work with the City as they make plans and decisions for Phase Two of the "State Street Plan" renovations. All of this affects the west side of the shopping center. This is the section that will be north of Schrock Road. Phase One of the work is already started from I-270 northward, and much of that has been completed.

George Hadler, CEO, is personally working with the City Manager, as promised, to develop the public art that will be placed in the park area on the west end of the shopping center along State Street. A preliminary selection has already been made and awaits final approval from the City.

Walmart has already made a commitment to Westerville with the announcement on January 10, 2012 of a major financial grant of $50,000 from the Walmart Foundation State Giving Council to the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM).
